If you like games, you may have heard of some leaked information about the Nintendo Switch 2 (Pro). It seems that even though the Switch Pro did not come to fruition, there is still a lot of expectation that something similar will come our way.

Nintendo had announced that a Switch OLED upgrade would be coming, with a bigger screen, more internal storage, more powerful speakers, and a revamped kickstand. All of these are supposed to give you a better OLED display.

So what are people saying about the Nintendo Switch Pro as of writing? It was supposed to launch instead of the Switch OLED, but the latter had beaten it to the market.
The Switch OLED has landed on October 8, 2021. It comes with the specs that are expected in the Switch Pro. So, people wonder if that is the only update that the Japanese company will be releasing this year.

The Nintendo Switch is supposed to output at 4K, which is an excellent upgrade. Bloomberg even predicted that it should be out by September or October of 2021. Therefore, it is easy to understand how gamers are starting to get anxious.

Thankfully, the video below claims that Swith Pro 2 will still be released and that the PS5 and Xbox consoles should be worried about Nintendo’s updated offering.

Although the console was initially slotted for September or October of this year, the word also has it that it may be released in March 2022. Here are a few things that we know:

Display

According to some of the leaks, Switch 2 Pro will be using Mini LED Technology. Taiwanese company Enolux will be designing the display. If you have heard of the company, then you may have a little bit of an idea as to what is in store for you. While you may have heard of Mini LED before, it is still very much of a big deal because it finds itself between LCD and OLED.

What does it mean? It means that the new Switch 2 Pro will be coming with several dimming zone options. The contrast is undoubtedly much better than the OLED display, which is low in brightness and with a higher risk of burning. Mini LED is still more expensive than traditional LCD, however.
The use of Mini LED also questions how Nintendo can meet the demands of several Switch fans since it is trickier to manufacture using Mini LED. It seems like the Switch 2 Pro is worth the wait, though, with its high contrast and high-resolution combo.

Processor

You may get excited about how NVIDIA will be creating a special chip just for Switch 2 Pro. With bigger RAM and a higher clock speed, you can expect that the Switch 2 will deliver a more noticeably powerful performance.

The graphics improvement leap may even be more significant than the Playstation consoles when moving from one version to another. NVIDIA certainly knows how to upscale a game without losing a lot of the quality.

The 4K upscale will undoubtedly give the Switch 2 Pro a boost that will make everyone scramble for the new, upgraded Switch when it does get released. The docked mode will make the 4K resolution possible from a 1080 native resolution. Like the original Switch, this upcoming release will boost its clocks when connected to the dock.

Design

There are no official leaked photos of the Switch 2 Pro, but some experts have tried to visualize what it could look like.

For one, it is thought to be bigger, from 6.2 inches to 7 inches. The reimagined Switch 2 Pro also has a full coating of color and smaller bezels. Experts also envisioned a better stand because the first Switch had a breakable one that could not support the console properly. If the console will be improving on its past design, then this makes sense.

Since the OLED version has a tabletop, handheld, and TV mode, it is expected that the Switch 2 will come with those modes, as well.

Price

All the improvements may already be making you shake in fear. After all, everything seems to be upgraded: looks, speed, resolution, and more. The Switch 2 should cost $100 more expensive than the original one. However, it should not reach $400 because that will be entering Playstation console territory. So, it could cost around $299.

Enhanced Sound

Since the Switch OLED comes with enhanced sound, it is expected that the Switch 2 will follow the same route.

Final Words

You may think that all the details above are just part of the Nintendo hype but the company’s president, Shuntaro Furukawa, said that the Switch’s “momentum is increasing.” Therefore, a version packed with great stuff that also looks good and feels good makes sense. Would you be able to stand the wait?
